Florida summers are hot, but that shouldn’t stop you from increasing the curb appeal of your home before putting it on the market.
What is curb appeal and why is it so important?
Curb appeal is how your home is presented on the exterior. It’s literally the first physical impression your home makes on a potential buyer as they drive up to your residence.
A well-maintained exterior can do wonders for generating interest in your home. It can create an emotional response to someone who can imagine themselves living in that space. Unfortunately, an unkept home can make the potential buyer stop and think twice about viewing the inside if the exterior is questionable.
What can a Florida homeowner do to increase their curb appeal?
– Trim trees and bushes
– Cut back palms (especially now that we’re in Hurricane season)
– Weed around the home and driveway/sidewalks/patios
– Refresh the mulch in planters and around trees
– Fix and paint fences if needed
– Fix broken gates and garage door dents
– Fix irrigation if needed
– Powerwash the exterior of home, roof, driveway
A little work to the exterior of your home could increase the amount of online views and saves, increase walk-throughs, and according to HGTV*, potentially increase the value of your home up to 10%. I think that’s definitely worth the effort.
